Tranmere Rovers have signed Ryan Donaldson from Newcastle United on a one-month loan deal.

Donaldson, 20, can play in midfield or attack and has been capped by England at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.

"He's a talented young player, who I've watched a lot for Newcastle's reserves and last season for Hartlepool," said Tranmere manager Les Parry.

"He's always impressed me, he's good on the ball and has an eye for goal. He'll be an excellent addition to our squad."

Donaldson has made six appearances in the Newcastle first team since making his debut in 2009.

He spent two months on loan at Hartlepool United last season, where he played 12 times, and he will now join Tranmere's squad for Saturday's game against Wycombe Wanderers.
