Oxford United have re-signed Sheffield United striker Danny Philliskirk on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old first joined the U's on loan, external from Chelsea in 2010, making his only appearance in the first game back in the Football League away at Burton.

Philliskirk returned to Chelsea before joining the Blades, initially on loan.

The U's were eager to bring another forward option in after on-loan Andy Haworth suffered an ankle injury during the 1-1 draw at Macclesfield last week.

A scan revealed that the winger's injury is likely to keep him out of action for up to a month. He is contracted to the club until 5 November, meaning he could have played his last game for the U's.

Philliskirk began his career at his hometown club Oldham, before being lured to Chelsea in 2007, external where he also represented England at junior level.

He has made just three appearances this season, all in cup competitions.
