Sutton United upset Blue Square Bet Premier side Kettering to progress to the second round of the FA Cup.

After a quiet opening the game came to life after the break with Jean-Paul Marna twice forcing home keeper Kevin Scriven into action.

Leroy Griffiths went close for the Blue Square Bet South side before Craig Watkins slid home from close range.

Griffiths and Watkins both missed chances to seal the win before Adam Cunnington almost forced a replay.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Kettering Town manager Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Northampton:

"It's very, very disappointing. We created a few chances and couldn't take them, and I honestly thought we were going to go to a replay.

"In the Cup games, you have to take opportunities and - at least - test the goalkeeper. We're out of this fantastic competition, and I feel for the supporters who came out in their numbers.

"The team's not playing as well as it should."
