Striker James Ellison exits Burton Albion

Striker James Ellison has left Burton Albion after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 20-year-old former Liverpool youth-team product joined the Brewers in July 2010, external but only made a total of three appearances.

Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby, external: "It just didn't work for him for one reason or another.

"He had a few issues off the pitch that didn't help him but he does have talent and he is a good player."

Ellison also spent time on loan with Alfreton, external earlier in the season

Peschisolido added: "It was a calculated gamble to bring in a young lad, to bring him on, and hopefully he'd become what we expect from him.

"But sometimes it doesn't work out and I wish him all the best."
