Scunthorpe United are aiming to extend the loan of Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood.

Norwood, 20, is with the League One side until January, when media reports are linking him with a loan elsewhere.

But Scunthorpe assistant manager Chris Brass told BBC Radio Humberside: "Hopefully he'll find out this weekend what Sir Alex wants of him.

"I think the player will [want to stay]. I think he wants to help turn the situation around."

The Northern Ireland international signed for the Iron in August and has made 16 appearances for the club, scoring once.

He is currently serving a three match suspension after being sent off in the 3-2 defeat against Notts County in November.

Norwood will be back in first team contention for the home game against Chesterfield on 31 December.
