Lincoln City have signed winger Conal Platt on an 18-month contract following his release by Cambridge United, external in a hectic day of transfer activity.

Manager David Holdsworth told BBC Lincolnshire he was delighted to have 25-year-old Platt on board.

"I've got a good working relationship with him and he's the type of player I want," he said.

The club have also signed Leicester keeper Adam Smith and Blackburn defender Mattew Pearson on loan.

Smith, 19, will stay with the club for the rest of the season, having already trained with the first-team squad while the deal was being sorted out.

Pearson, an England Under-18 international, has been recruited on a youth loan arrangement, which will run until 8 April.

Lincoln have also agreed a contract extension with midfielder Tyrone Thompson to the end of the season and cancelled the registration of full-back Jason Beardsley, who had been on non-contract terms at the club.
