London-based property developer Andrew Ellis has expressed his delight at finally joining the Rangers board.
The Ibrox club have announced that the 44-year-old has been installed as a non-executive director, replacing Philip Betts.
Ellis was linked with a takeover of the club in March 2010 before Craig Whyte bought out Sir David Murray last year.
"I am delighted to have joined the board at Rangers. It is a great honour," he said.
"I look forward to working with Craig Whyte and the rest of the board in making sure Rangers remain the number one club in Scotland.
"There is a lot of work to be done at the club going forward, but the right people are in place to make sure the club continues to be successful.
"First of all, though, I look forward to the game against Aberdeen."
Ellis, who was involved in Whyte's successful bid, will fly up from London on Saturday for the Light Blues' Scottish Premier League match against the Dons at Ibrox.
The son of former Queens Park Rangers chairman Peter Ellis has previous experience on the board of Northampton Town.
Whyte said: "On behalf of the board, I am pleased to welcome Andrew Ellis as a non-executive director of the club.
"Andrew is already a director of the Rangers FC Group and his previous experience in football will be a benefit to the club as we look to the future.
"I would like to thank Phil Betts for his contribution to the board and the club following the takeover last year."
