Hibernian striker Leigh Griffiths has accepted the two-match suspension offered by the SFA for a one-finger salute at fans during Saturday's 3-2 defeat by St Johnstone.

It is Griffiths's third ban within two months for gestures made at supporters.

He has already received a one-game ban for gesturing at Rangers fans during a 2-0 defeat by Rangers on 10 December.

And he will miss the next round of the Scottish Cup for a gesture at his club's own fans on 7 January.

That came after a 3-2 win over Cowdenbeath that set up a home tie against Scottish Premier League rivals Kilmarnock.

After Hibs failed to win their appeal against that second suspension for breaching rule 200 with "offensive, insulting or abusive gestures", manager Pat Fenlon warned Griffiths about his future behaviour.

However, the striker on loan from Wolves has now been hit by a two-game ban by Scottish Football Association compliance officer Vincent Lunny after the league defeat at Easter Road.

Griffiths's suspension has been doubled "as the player has been reported for this offence twice in the same competition".

Having accepted the latest ban Griffiths will miss Saturday's trip to Ibrox to face Rangers and the visit by Aberdeen on 11 February - he is already out of the Cup tie against Kilmarnock a week earlier.
