Ben Purkiss has joined Hereford United for the rest of the season after being released from his contract at Oxford.

The 27-year-old right-back joined the U's from York City in 2010 after playing 132 games for the Minstermen.

During his first season at Oxford he made 22 starts with the first team, but has failed to feature for the League Two club in this campaign.

The former Sheffield United trainee spent three months on loan at Darlington at the start of this term.
