Shrewsbury have signed striker Romaine Sawyers on a month's loan from Premier League side West Brom.

The 21-year-old follows Baggies club-mate James Hurst, external, who also enjoyed a loan spell with the Shrews this season.

"We're getting a good relationship with West Brom and they know we treat their players right," Town boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Sawyers has yet to play in the West Brom first team but is highly rated by the Hawthorns management.

His arrival at Shrewsbury coincides with the start of a three-match ban for Town's top scorer Marvin Morgan.

"It's good to shake things up, and let's see what impact he can make in his month with us," said Turner.

Sawyers had a four-week loan at Port Vale last season - and can also play in an attacking midfield role.

Shrewsbury have also confirmed that midfielder Steve Leslie has had his contract ended by mutual consent.
