1629 Similarly, Hibs knock the ball about 30 yards from goal, working it from left to right. The move comes to a dismal end, though, when Isaiah Osbourne's cross arrows over the head of centre-forward Garry O'Connor in the Celtic box.

1626 Hibs pick up the ball after a spot of Celtic midfield possession. Garry O'Connor tries to get things going for Pat Fenlon's team but his pass to Leigh Griffiths is wayward and heavy.

1624 Adam Matthews sticks with Leigh Griffiths as he breaks down the left wing and dispossesses him. The ball arrives at Anthony Stokes 35 yards from goal and his powerful effort drifts a few feet wide.

1529 BBC Radio Scotland pundit and Motherwell defender Stephen Craigan: "If it goes to 3-0, it is game, set and match for Celtic."

1331 Hughes trudges off. Let's hope he makes a swift return to the Dons team. Danny Uchechi, the sub, bursts on to the pitch full of energy, green boots a-flashing.

1330 Bad news for said Mr Hughes - he is indicating to the bench that his hamstring has gone. I'm fond of Hughes as a player but I reckon Stan Laurel had sturdier legs on him than the Dons midfielder.

1328 Stephen Hughes shows lovely technique and a sharp mind to clip a reverse ball through for Scott Vernon in the inside-right channel. The Dons striker volleys the ball a few feet over the Saints' crossbar.

1326 Ah, and then Fran Sandaza (who else?) twists and turns through the red rows of Dons defenders and arrows a low shot at goal. Keeper Jason Brown is relieved that, although the ball squirms under his body, it does not cross the line.

1324 We've had that half-chance for Fran Sandaza from Mark Reynolds' poor pass and a very weak effort early from Scott Vernon for Aberdeen. And Fraser Fyvie's header wide too. Otherwise, not a lot.

1303 I am keeping an envious eye on fitness fanatic and top guy Chris Millar on the right side of midfield for St Johnstone. I was chatting to him in a Gourock cafe the other day where I was devouring a fine range of pastries, while he, being a true pro, sipped on a non-fattening, non-alcoholic beverage. I have never before felt so unfit merely standing beside someone.

1301 Aberdeen's Fraser Fyvie attacks a cross from the right by Ryan Jack, positions his body rather like classic Paul Scholes...and just misses Alan Mannus's right-hand post. That was close!

1300 Baby-faced assassin Mitch Megginson slips the Saints defence but seems to panic with the goal in his sights and screws his shot well wide.

1258 Stephen Hughes controls the ball in the centre of the Dons half and sprays the ball out to Ryan Jack on the right flank. Aberdeen edge forward...

1256 Scott Vernon turns Saints' David McCracken near the centre circle and hares at goal. Whether he ran out of puff or felt he was about to be tackled we will never know: what is certain is that his shot from 18 yards was as soft as a wet sponge.
