Exeter City have signed free agents Rohan Ricketts and Alan Gow until the end of the season.

They will go straight into the Grecians' squad for their league One trip to Tranmere on Saturday provided they can get international clearance.

Ricketts, 29, has been training with City for the past week after leaving Irish side Shamrock Rovers in January.

Indian side East Bengal.

They duo join fellow free agent Jamie Cureton as manager Paul Tisdale tries to assemble a squad that will keep Exeter City in League One.

"I don't see any harm in having more players in at the moment, especially players who have got some know-how and experience," Tisdale told BBC South West.

Ricketts relishes English return

"It's not normally my style, signing a lot of players, but an unusual situation sometimes needs unusual answers.

"There's always an upside of having a new player or two in the squad is that there's a freshness and a positive air from any players coming in, especially for players who have been without a club and are looking for an opportunity."

Midfielder Ricketts, who has played for Tottenham, Barnsley and Wolves as well as having spells in Canada, Hungary, Moldova and the Republic of Ireland, says helping Exeter stay up would be one of his greatest achievements.

"I've won FA Youth Cups back-to-back, I've won a league in Ireland, I've been involved in FA Cup ties, but for me this would be major because it's all against us in terms of points," he said.

"We've only got eight games left and I'm coming to help the team, which in effect helps myself, and I feel that I have a point to prove to myself than just others.

"I spoke to Paul Tisdale and when I spoke to him, the type of person he was, because I'd never worked with him as a manager, that was what warmed me to wanting to come down here.

"I'm just grateful for the opportunity because I've been playing away from England for four years so I'm relishing the chance to get back in."
