In-form striker Jon Daly secured a clean sweep for Dundee United by being named top player in the Scottish Premier League during March.

Peter Houston had already received Clydesdale Bank's manager award, with winger Gary Mackay-Steven being named top young player for a second month.

Daly said: "This is by far the best form of my career.

"And that is down to enjoying the game and playing under a good manager, good coaching staff and with a great bunch."

Daly struck his 21st goal of the season on Saturday, but the curse of the monthly awards struck again, with United losing 3-1 away to Aberdeen.

United had won all four of their SPL games last month and were equal on points with fourth-placed St Johnstone and five behind Motherwell in the race for a Champions League qualification spot before their defeat at Pittodrie.

However, Saints edged a point ahead despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home by Inverness Caledonian Thistle, while Well have the chance to improve their own position after Sunday's match away to Hibernian.

Hearts moved to within a point of United with a 2-1 win away to Dunfermline Athletic.
