Rangers scored two second-half goals to beat Linfield 2-0 in a fundraising May Day friendly at Windsor Park.

Alejandro Bedoya put Rangers in front in the 54th minute and 17-year-old sub Barry McKay added a spectacular second after 78 minutes.

Linfield had a few early chances but the double-winning champions proved second best as Rangers began to dominate.

Linfield have been invited to play a return game at Ibrox next season.

The game was organised by Linfield as a fundraiser for the Glasgow giants.

Linfield more than held their own in the first half and carved out several openings as the rain poured down at Windsor Park.

Jamie Mulgrew went closest to breaking the deadlock but his dipping shot from 25 yards was just wide.

Brian McCaul's overhead kick from 18 yards was also narrowly wide.

Stuart Addis made a superb save from Steven Whittaker just when it looked the ball was destined for the top corner.

There was a let-off for Linfield just before the interval when Stuart Addis spilled Lee McCulloch's 25-yard shot.

David Healy hammered the loose ball into the net but it was ruled out for offside and it was still 0-0 at half-time.

Daryl Fordyce then blew a great chance to put Linfield ahead early in the second half.

Mulgrew put him through with a super pass but, with only the goalkeeper to beat, he skewed his shot wide.

Bedoya lobbed the out-rushing Linfield substitute goalkeeper Ross Glendinning for the opening goal in the 54th minute.

Rangers dominated after the goal as Linfield's double-winning celebrations saw them run out of steam.

But Gary Browne spurned a great chance for Linfield against the run of play when he fired over from 10 yards out.

17-year-old substitute McKay ensured victory for Rangers with a second goal after 78 minutes.
