Alfreton Town boss Nicky Law has begun his planning for the new season by re-signing four players, agreeing deals with three more, and releasing three.

Defender Darren Kempson, 27, has signed a two-year deal and defenders Josh Law, 22, Connor Franklin, 24, and Leigh Franks, 21, have signed for 12 months.

Midfielder Daniel Meadows, 19, has agreed a two-year deal.

And fellow midfielders Anton Brown and Nathan Arnold, both 24, are also set to sign for another year.

But the Reds have released goalkeeper Dan Lawson, winger Jamie Mullan and midfielder Nicky Deverdics (all 24).

Kempson, who joined the Reds in January and was soon named captain, played a key role in helping Alfreton avoid relegation from the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Utility player Theo Streete will also be staying at the Impact Arena after the club took up the option of an extra one-year deal.

And the Reds are also in negotiations with 17-goal top-scorer Nathan Jarman, 25, about a new contract.

Reds chairman Wayne Bradley said: "We have retained a huge chunk of last season's squad but it is clearly not complete.

"New signings are on the horizon as the club are deep into negotiations with a whole host of targets.

"We feel all of our targets are deemed to be additions who will clearly better our squad. This year will be a case of quality instead of quantity."
