Preston have reached agreements to sign Tranmere defender David Buchanan and Liverpool striker David Amoo.

Amoo, 21, has agreed a one-year deal with the League One club, with the option to extend it by a further year.

Both free agents, they will officially join Preston when their current contracts expire on 1 July.

Amoo, who spent the majority of last season on loan at Bury, told the club website:, external "I've played here a few times.

"It is an amazing stadium and a club of great history, so it will be a great step in my career to come here."

Buchanan played more than 200 games for Bury and had a short spell with Scottish club Hamilton before moving to Prenton Park last summer.

Their arrivals take manager Graham Westley's tally of summer signings to six.

Preston also have agreements in place to sign Shrewsbury duo Nicky Wroe and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff when their contracts expire at their present clubs.

Meanwhile, chairman Peter Ridsdale has told BBC Radio Lancashire that the club's players have not been banned from using Twitter, as long as they do not divulge information about the club.

No Twitter ban at Preston - Ridsdale

"Twitter may have a place in an individual's private life but shouldn't have a place in their commercial life during the working day," he said.

"I don't see any benefit whatsoever in any of our players using Twitter as a means of communication because it can be interpreted in a number of ways.

"What happens in one's business life is between the employee and the employer. It's not for the wider social scene.

"We've made that clear to our players. We'll have a big turnover of players this summer and one of the first things the manager will be doing is to reinforce the fact that, if you have you use Twitter, make sure it's strictly for personal use."
