Ballymena United have signed former Lisburn Distillery players Gary Thompson and David Cushley.

Both players were released by the Whites during the summer and will rejoin their former coach Glenn Ferguson at the Showgrounds, having spent a successful pre-season with the Sky Blues.

Cushley played 81 games and scored 12 goals during a previous spell at the Showgrounds club.

The winger was released in 2010.

Thompson was formerly on the books of Linfield and Larne.

The acquisition of the former Whites pair brings the number of new arrivals at the Showgrounds to four, with Ferguson also having signed ex-Linfield goalkeeper Stuart Addis and Glentoran defender Jonny Taylor.

Gary McCutcheon, Rory Carson, Conor Downey and Alan Davidson have left the Sky Blues.
