Derby County sign Michael Hoganson after Newcastle exit

Derby County have signed former Newcastle United left-back Michael Hoganson on a one-year deal.

The 18-year-old, who can also play as a wide midfielder, was released by the Magpies at the end of last season and joined the Rams on trial last month after rejecting a move to Northampton.

Manager Nigel Clough told the club website: "Primarily, we want him to be part of the new under-21 side.

"But he will also provide cover down the left-hand side for the first team."
