Antony Kay signs deal with MK Dons after leaving Huddersfield

Milton Keynes Dons have signed defender Antony Kay from Huddersfield Town on a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old was part of the Terriers squad that won promotion from League One last season but had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

"This is a great club with some great players and they have made some quality signings," said Kay.

"They've been in the play-offs nearly every year I can remember so hopefully we can go one step further this time."

He continued: "Any player that has ever played against MK Dons knows how well they pass it and all footballers want to play that way.

"It's one of the reasons why I've come here and I can't wait to get started."

He began his career by making almost 200 appearances for home town club Barnsley - and scored one of the penalties when they beat Swansea in the League One play-off final in 2006.

The following year he moved on to Tranmere Rovers before returning to Yorkshire with Huddersfield in 2009.

"I think it is a fantastic signing for the club and he offers us a great wealth of experience, plus he knows what it takes to get promoted," said Dons boss Karl Robinson.

"He brings a tremendous strength in depth by being able to play in defence and midfield which is a great option to have."
