Bristol Rovers have signed young goalkeeper Sam Walker on loan from Chelsea until 2 January.

The 20-year-old is yet to play for his parent club but made his professional debut while on loan at Barnet in 2011.

He had a spell at Northampton at the start of last season before joining Yeovil, where he made 20 appearances.

With first-choice keeper Scott Bevan sidelined with a wrist injury, Walker could make his debut in the Captial One Cup clash with Ipswich on Tuesday.

Rovers boss Mark McGhee was hoping to bring in former Nottingham Forest keeper Paul Smith in time for the start of the new campaign but a deal has not yet been reached.
