Misfiring, injury-hit Celtic striker Mo Bangura is returning to former club AIK Solna on loan until December.

Sierra Leone international Bangura joined Celtic from the Stockholm outfit almost 12 months ago.

But the 23-year-old has made only 16 appearances for the Scottish champions following his £2.2m switch.

"He needs to play some football and get himself going again," said Celtic manager Neil Lennon. "He is away back to Stockholm on loan."

Bangura was recommended to the Glasgow club by Celtic and Sweden legend Henrik Larsson and arrived with many predicting he would also make a major impact in Scottish football.

"Possibly the expectation of the price tag weighs a little bit on younger players at times," added Lennon.

"We know he is a talent, but has been hampered by injuries.

"He is fit now and we think it is a good time for him to go and play football and come back here a better player."
