Sheffield Utd 0-0 Doncaster

Sheffield United and Doncaster played out a dull goalless South Yorkshire derby draw at Bramall Lane.

Rovers threatened early when Martin Woods saw his low angled shot parried by Mark Howard while the United keeper also kept out Chris Brown's follow-up.

Blades striker Richard Cresswell fired over from inside the area and Paul Gallagher also tested visiting keeper Gary Woods with a 25-yard effort.

But both sides failed to create clear chances and had to settle for a draw.

Sheffield United are sixth in the table, one point and four places above Doncaster.

It was a typical derby - Wilson

"It was a typical derby day. It was tough, nip and tuck, not a great deal between the teams in terms of chances.

"I think what we did have we had to earn.

"Particularly the second half we've had the lion's share of possession and put enormous pressure on Doncaster, but couldn't get that breakthrough."

Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders told BBC Radio Sheffield:

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders pleased with a draw

"I would have taken a draw before we came.

"We missed a couple of chances early on, some good chances. The goalkeeper has made two great saves from Martin Woods and Chris Brown.

"But they (Sheffield United) are the biggest club in the league, we're away from home, had a tough game on Saturday. I would have taken a draw before we came."
