Defender Gregory Vignal signs Dundee United deal

French defender Gregory Vignal has signed a short-term deal with Dundee United.
The 31-year-old has joined United manager Peter Houston's side until 5 January 2013, with an option to extend the deal.
Vignal played for Rangers, on loan from Liverpool, in 2004-05, external, winning the SPL title and Scottish League Cup.
"Gregory has plenty of experience and it is important that we add experience to our young squad," said Houston.
Vignal began his career at hometown club Montpellier and signed for the Reds in 2000, before moving on to Portsmouth in 2009.
He was then reunited with his manager at Rangers, Alex McLeish, when he signed for Birmingham City in 2009, external.
"I have been looking to add a left-sided defender to the squad," added Houston.
"First and foremost he is a very good player who will provide extra quality on the left-hand side of the park.
"The length of the contract is ideal for both parties. It will allow Gregory to get a feel for our club and gives us the opportunity to assess him over a longer period."
