Hartlepool 2-2 Shrewsbury

  • Published

Andy Monkhouse grabbed a last-minute equaliser for Hartlepool as they salvaged a draw with Shrewsbury Town.

The home side struck first when Steve Howard's header set up Jonathan Franks to drill home from the edge of the box.

Marvin Morgan pulled the visitors level from close range and he looked to have won it when he got in behind the Hartlepool back four before calmly slotting beyond Scott Flinders.

But Monkhouse rescued a draw with a strike from inside the area.

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"We didn't deserve anything if I am honest.

"Having gave them the lead which was a terrible goal to concede.

"We were second best for the vast majority of the game."
