Darren Murray grabs the only goal of the game as Portadown secure a home victory over Crusaders

Portadown celebrated their first Premiership win since the opening day of the season as Darren Murray's header proved enough against Crusaders.

Former Donegal Celtic striker Murray got on the end of Ross Redman's cross to bag a close-range goal at the post in the 23rd minute.

Crusaders had their chances with Paul Heatley testing keeper David Miskelly and Gary McCutcheon heading just over.

Then in the second half former Carrick winger Heatley hit the crossbar.

"We needed that win and we deserved it because we created lots of opportunities," said matchwinner Murray.

"We did well all over the pitch. The goal was a simple finish for me after a lovely cross by Ross redman."

Portadown stay 10th in the table but are now level on points with Mid-Ulster rivals Glenavon who were beaten 2-1 away to Ballinamallard United.
