Dungannon joint-manager Darren Murphy agrees to stay in job

Dungannon Swifts joint-manager Darren Murphy has agreed to stay on in the job after saying over the weekend that he was considering his future in the role.

Murphy said on Saturday that he felt "drained" by the post after the 1-1 Premiership draw with Donegal Celtic.

However, Murphy held talks with the club on Monday night and vice-chairman Jarlath Faloon told BBC Sport that "a meeting of minds" had been reached.

"It's been sorted out and Darren is staying on," added Faloon.

The Dungannon official said that criticism directed at Murphy by "sections of the crowd" had led to the joint-manager making his surprise comments on Saturday.

Murphy made clear his unhappiness after Saturday's game.

"There comes a time when you look at it and time whether you are the right person for it," said Murphy after the match.

"Everyone needs to pull together at a football and there are times when I feel that is not the case."

Murphy works alongside Rodney McAree, who quit as manager in February because he did not have the required 'A' licence to continue in the job.

Dungannon are eighth in the standings after just two wins in their opening 10 games.

"I've put a lot into it - sometimes it drains you and today I feel drained," said the former Linfield player.

"I'm going to go to the board meeting on Monday night and make my mind up either way."
