Ballymena United share points with Ballinamallard after a 1-1 draw at Ballymena Showgrounds

Ballymena drew with Ballinamallard in a match which was marred by a mass brawl at the end of the first half.

Jason McCartney was sent-off following the incident which involved players and coaching staff from both clubs.

Steve Feeney gave the visitors the lead when he headed Chris Curran's right-wing cross powerfully into the roof of the net from close range on 12 minutes.

Alan Teggart equalised with a 40th-minute penalty and Mark Surgenor was dismissed with two minutes left.

The Sky Blues were awarded the penalty after James McKenna was adjudged to have handled inside the area.

Johnny Taylor and Teggart received yellow cards for their part in the melee which saw McCartney dismissed.

In the second half, Ryan Campbell had a shot saved by Dwayne Nelson while Jamie Davidson had the ball in the net but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Mallards remain third in the table and Ballymena sixth.
