Donegal Celtic 2-1 Glentoran

Two Shane Dolan goals helped Donegal Celtic earn their first Premiership win since March as they surprised Glentoran at Suffolk Road.

New DC manager Pat McAllister's decision to recall striker Dolan was totally justified.

Dolan hooked home from close range on 15 minutes and he delightfully flicked in the second goal on 35.

Sean Ward pulled a goal back on 57 and despite intense late Glens pressure, DC held on to take the three points.

DC's win moves them off the bottom of the table as they edge ahead of Lisburn Distillery on goal difference.

Dolan struck Celtic's opening goal on 15 after latching on to a long throw.

DC almost added to their lead as Ciaran Gargan just failed to poke into an empty net after Dolan's clever pass was enabled Mark Miskimmin to deliver a low cross.

However, the home team were 2-0 up on 35 minutes after Dolan's superb flicked effort.

The Glens were poor in the first half with Stuart Elliott's shot directly at John Connolly on 45 their only effort of note.

Eddie Patterson's side improved after the break and Ward went close before he did lash home on 57 after a Stephen Carson cross.

As DC retreated into their own half, Glentoran took total control but excellent Connolly goalkeeping and stout defending enabled the home team to hold on for their first win in 19 Premiership games.

Connolly's best save saw him denying Elliott again on 63 minutes.
