Crewe 3-2 Colchester

  • Published

Crewe battled back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to beat Colchester.

Freddie Sears poked the U's into the lead and Ian Henderson chipped in a brilliant second from Magnus Okuonghae's long ball.

Lauri Dalla Valle pulled one back, into an empty net for his second in two games, and Luke Murphy levelled with a penalty after Okuonghae handballed.

And Crewe won it in the 74th minute when Mathias Pogba headed home Byron Moore's cross.

Colchester United manager Joe Dunne told BBC Essex:

Dunne concerned by 'lost belief'

"It just seems to be when we concede the first goal, from being in winning positions, that we just don't seem to believe in ourselves.

"It's such a transition from the first few weeks I've been in charge. We've had a bad week in terms of conceding goals and how we've lost games.

"As soon as the first (Crewe) goal went in, you could feel the atmosphere, and I just thought I want the players to be stronger than that.

"Every time we put ourselves in a position to defend at the moment, they score."
