Ross Allen celebrates his last minute equaliser

Guernsey FC's top scorer Ross Allen saved the Green Lions from their first home defeat of the season with a last-minute equaliser against Badshot Lea.

Allen's 90th-minute strike saw Guernsey draw 1-1 with the Combined Counties League Premier Division leaders.

Adam Cornell gave Badshot the lead after 48 minutes in front of 1,178 fans at Footes Lane.

Allen had chances to equalise during the second-half before eventually getting his 22nd goal of the season.

"The last 15-20 minutes I was thinking it wasn't our day, but fortunately we got the draw in the end," Guernsey boss Tony Vance told BBC Guernsey.

"They were a good side, and even when we got the equaliser, they were still pressing and pushing in numbers and they wanted to try and win the game.

"But you've got to give credit to the boys, they kept pushing and pushing, and that's the style of play we like.

"When we keep pushing and prodding against teams hopefully they'll break and fortunately they did."

The draw sees Guernsey drop to third place, two points off Badshot and a point behind Egham Town, with fourth-placed Horley Town two points further back.

"We were bigging this up as a big game and it was, the crowd was fantastic," added Vance.

"Does it determine the destiny of the title? No.

"But a draw was a fair result and there's going to be many twists and turns between now and the end of the season.

"We've got to make sure that we're in with that pack and at the moment we are.

"We've got some very tough games coming and and we've got to make sure we're on the right side of those victories."
