Everton Ladies have appointed Andy Spence as their new manager.

Spence was formerly assistant manager and replaces Mo Marley, who stepped down at the end of last season.

"It's a massive honour and I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to take over the management of the first team," he told evertontv.

Spence is determined to introduce young players into the side after Fara Williams, Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton all left the club.

"I think the club has always had a real youth presence to our teams and that will be something I am very keen to continue because the young players coming through know the philosophy of the club," he said.

"That will be key for us in the future but there will also be new players coming in to strengthen what is already a very good squad."
