Port Vale have re-signed AFC Telford centre-back Liam Chilvers on loan until January following a successful spell with the club last season.

Vale had hoped to sign the 31-year-old permanently at the turn of the year, but a deal never materialised.

Chilvers is the first new arrival at Vale Park since Paul Wildes completed his takeover of the League Two club.

The club, who are second in the table, had been in administration since the beginning of March.

Chilvers, who joined the Bucks after being released by Notts County in the summer, told the Vale website: "It wasn't a difficult decision to make.

"When I went to Telford, we had an agreement that I was helping them out and if a league team came in and offered something, if they could, they would help me to move on.

"If everything goes well, the club enjoy having me here and it is something that works well for both of us, then I would like to stay here."
