Inverness: Terry Butcher expects no January signings

Terry Butcher is hoping the winter break will be enough to refresh his Inverness squad - as he does not expect to make any January signings.

"I'm not really looking at doing any business," said the manager. "If someone goes for whatever reason then we can look to replace.

"We haven't got a lot of money to do things. That's the way things are."

Shinnie and McKay have been in excellent form for Caley Thistle

Butcher is hopeful of concluding new deals with top scorer Billy McKay and influential midfielder Andrew Shinnie.

"We're pretty close to doing that and, if we can conclude that soon, I'll be delighted," said the manager.

"Hopefully that will be the catalyst for other players to continue being with us."

Caledonian Thistle sit third in the Scottish Premier League after a run of four wins and two draws in their last six games, with McKay attracting attention with his tally of 16 goals.

"At this moment in time, I'm happy with the squad I've got," said Butcher, whose side will have two free weekends next month because of the SPL's winter break.

"The break will help players recuperate and regenerate and be ready for the second half of the season.

"That break is probably as valuable to me and the players as a new signing. We have to utilise it very well."

Inverness entertain bottom side Dundee on Saturday and would have a chance to move into second behind Celtic should Motherwell slip up away to St Mirren on Friday evening.
