Hartlepool struck twice at the death to stun Leyton Orient and climb off the bottom of the League One table.

The O's went ahead early on when Martin Rowlands converted from the penalty spot after Neil Austin had handled.

Second-half chances were few and far between, but Peter Hartley powered in a header with two minutes remaining to draw the hosts level.

And then, deep into added time, Luke James struck from the edge of the area to win it for struggling Hartlepool.

Slade: "I'm sick at that result"

"I'm absolutely sick. We're all disappointed because we worked very hard and controlled the game.

"There is no way that Hartlepool deserved to win the game today but we should have built on the 1-0 lead.

"We had opportunities to put the game beyond them and a second goal would have seen us do that."
