Kidderminster Harriers: Steve Burr praises Malbon effort

Manager Steve Burr has praised Anthony Malbon after the young striker's goal gave Kidderminster Harriers their fourth successive victory.

Malbon's first-half effort at Forest Green Rovers secured the win that lifted Kidderminster to third in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Burr told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Anthony works so hard for the team.

"He's getting the reward for that now, we were just disappointed we didn't get the ball to him more."

The 21-year-old's goal was his fourth in three games for Harriers, who are now just five points behind league leaders Wrexham.

Grimsby, in second, are only two points ahead but have a game in hand.

"I thought we started quite brightly and then just lost our way a little bit, although, to be fair, Forest Green played very well," said Burr.

"I was disappointed that we didn't reach the heights we have done, but there is another side to winning games and I thought we saw that.

"Every one of the players put a shift in and we defended when we had to. Coming here with the situation of the two clubs, it is a tremendous three points."

Kidderminster's next game is at home to struggling Alfreton on Saturday, and Burris playing down talk of actually winning the Conference.

"That might just be a bit beyond us," he said. "But you never know in football.

"We've got to make sure the run doesn't end.

"After those first 10 games when things weren't looking so good we just kept believing.

"We have a group of lads who are desperate to succeed and I honestly believe, if we keep doing what we've been doing, with the work-rate and pace and flair we've got, we're capable of beating anybody."
