Irish Cup quarter-finals: Cliftonville 2-0 Kilmore Rec

Premiership leaders Cliftonville were made to work hard before second-half goals from Eamonn Seydak and Martin Donnelly saw off juniors Kilmore Rec in Saturday's Irish Cup quarter-final.

Keeper Michael McKenna made a series of great first-half saves for the Crossgar club but Mark Holland went close for the juniors before the break.

However, Seydak finally put the Reds ahead on 56 minutes after a fine move.

Donnelly hit the second on 85 after McKenna had denied Ciaran Caldwell.

Keeper McKenna was Kilmore's star performer although Philip Traynor also excelled for the junior outfit.

Stephen Garrett had an early chance for the runaway Premiership leaders but his heavy touch allowed McKenna to smother the effort.

Kilmore then enjoyed a period of parity as Peter Telford headed over - when Holland was probably better placed - and former Cliftonville man Holland then saw a free header deflected over in probably the visitors' best chance of the game.

Cliftonville dominated possession for the remainder of the opening period although Marc Smyth almost gifted a chance to Adrian Telford before the break but the Kilmore man was unable to get a shot in.

The Reds continued to press after the break but keeper McKenna again denied Boyce with Ronan Scannelll heading over and Joe Gormley then off target.

However, the deadlock was finally broken on 56 minutes as Seydak, in the team because of George McMullan's suspension, fired to the net after he played a delightful one-two with Boyce.

McKenna made further great saves to deny substitute Michael Donnelly, Smyth and Gormley to keep his team in the contest.

The Kilmore keeper then made another great save to deny Caldwell five minutes from time but Donnelly was on hand to stab in the replay from close range and settle the tie.
