Aberdeen are to play a friendly against Norway's Viking Stavanger at Pittodrie on 4 September, it has been announced.

The match, billed as The Energy Cities Challenge Cup, will take place during the bi-annual Offshore Europe event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Entry to the Wednesday evening game will be free for spectators.

Goals from Jordon Brown and Cammy Smith gave the Dons a 2-0 friendly victory in Stavanger last September.

Aberdeen FC vice chairman George Yule said: "From a football perspective, these types of games are excellent, particularly for our younger players whose experience against foreign opposition is limited."
