Colchester 0-0 Shrewsbury

Colchester's fight for League One survival will go down to the final day after a goalless draw with Shrewsbury.

Scunthorpe's win at MK Dons means they are just three points behind the U's, who remain just outside the drop zone.

In a game of few chances Brian Wilson's drilled shot and a 30-yard strike from David McAllister for Shrewsbury were both saved by Sam Walker.

Colchester's best chances fell to Jabo Ibehre and George Porter but neither side could break the deadlock.

Colchester United manager Joe Dunne told BBC Essex:

"I'm furious. We were lacklustre, we let fear get in the way of everything. Big crowd, we got booed at the end and rightly so. To play like that when it's in your hands, low annoying."

"It's been in our hands for the last three games, we've picked up one point. We're staring relegation in the face.

"We played with fear, we gave the fans nothing to cheer about. There was a desperation about our play. It looked like we were waiting on MK Dons to do us a favour [by beating Scunthorpe], which they didn't."

"It now comes down to the last game away at Carlisle. There's a lot of jobs on the line next week."

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"To be mathematically safe is a relief to us all - considering the circumstances we've had this season.

"We had a lot of energy in the second half and defended well - it could have been better for us. Our young guys have done so well. They provided the boost that young players can give you.

"After two defeats we needed to do one or two things - and they justified being selected with their hard work."
