Irish Premiership: Glenavon 7-0 Lisburn Distillery

Glenavon piled on the misery for bottom club Lisburn Distillery by hammering seven past the wilting Whites in the Premiership clash at Mourneview Park.

With Donegal Celtic losing 4-1 against Ballymena, Distillery remain five points adrift of the west Belfast side with three series of games left.

Guy Bates and Mark Farren scored Glenavon's first-half goals.

Player-manager Gary Hamilton scored two second-half goals with Ciaran Martyn, Farren and Kyle Neill also on target.

A superb pass by former Derry City striker Farren set up Bates' opener on 27 minutes.

Bates returned the compliment before half-time to set up Glenavon's second for Hamilton.

As the roof fell in on the dismal Whites, Bates set up Martyn to score on 56 minute with the former Glentoran player producing a neat sidestep before his finish.

Hamilton scored the best goal of the match 11 minutes from time with a glorious long-range shot before Farren quickly added the fifth.

Glenavon weren't finished with Hamilton hitting the sixth on 85 and Neill then able to walk the ball into the net two minutes from time as the Whites appeared to have given up.

With nine points still to be played for, Distillery mathematically can still escape but on the evidence of this display, the Whites looked destined for the Championship.
