Chelsea have held talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the transfer of Germany forward Andre Schurrle, according to the Bundesliga club.
The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals for Leverkusen this season and was linked with a move to the Premier League club last summer.
"Rudi Voller and Michael Reschke [club officials] talked to Chelsea yesterday," a spokesman told BBC Sport.
"No decisions have been made. We are talking, nothing more."
Schurrle joined Leverkusen from another top-flight club, Mainz, on a five-year deal in 2011.
He had helped Mainz to the 2009 German Under-19 championship before making his league debut in a 2-2 draw against Leverkusen in that year.
The 6ft German has been utilised as both a wide man and forward since joining Leverkusen and has helped them to third spot in the league this season.
He made his senior international debut against Sweden in 2010 and was also a member of head coach Joachim Loew's squad for Euro 2012, featuring in the wins against Denmark and Greece.
If Schurrle signs for Chelsea he would be the second German in the current squad - joining Marko Marin, who arrived from Werder Bremen last summer.
