Warrenpoint Town need a draw against Limavady United next weekend to secure a Premiership promotion/relegation play-off against Donegal Celtic after snatching victory at Institute.

Stute had the better of the first half but Daniel Hughes lobbed Warrenpoint into the lead on 44 minutes.

Stephen Parkhouse levelled from a penalty after a handball offence.

But Stephen McCabe netted a Warrenpoint penalty on 86 minutes after Stute keeper Corey Wilson had been sent-off.

Keeper Wilson had hauled down McCabe after failing to control a backpass on the bumpy surface.

In the closing stages, Warrenpoint's Stephen Moan was dismissed after getting his second yellow card for apparent dissent.

Warrenpoint went into the game level on points with Institute although the county Londonderry side had a better goal difference.

However, this win means that a point at Limavady will be enough to secure Barry Gray's side the play-off chance against Premiership second-bottom club Celtic.

If Warrenpoint at beaten at Limavady, Institute will secure the play-off spot by beating Carrick Rangers at Drumahoe.
