Derby County midfielder Ben Davies says he would not be happy with a bit-part role again next season.

Davies' contract expires this summer and talks have already begun over a new deal for the 31-year-old.

Boss Nigel Clough has said he is keen to keep Davies, who joined the Rams from Notts County in 2011 , externaland has made only eight league starts this term.

But Davies told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm not happy on the bench - of course not. I'm disappointed I've not played more."

He added: "I will sit down with the gaffer and get something sorted this week and come back as fit as I did last year.

"But I am not happy being on the bench. I want to be on the pitch scoring goals."

Davies came on and scored in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.

Meanwhile, Derby are interested in signing Watford defender Craig Forsyth on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old Scot has returned to Vicarage Road for the final game of Hornets' season and any potential play-off campaign, having impressed during a loan spell at Pride Park.
