Sheffield United are play-off underdogs - Chris Morgan

Sheffield United caretaker boss Chris Morgan believes going into the play-offs as underdogs may suit his team.

United finished fifth in League One and host Yeovil on Friday before travelling to Huish Park on Monday.

The Blades came third with 90 points last season, but lost to Huddersfield on penalties in the play-off final.

"I think there will be lower expectations this year. Maybe that's good that we're not the team finishing third," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"I don't think many people would have us down as favourites. We've come into the play-offs on the back of two or three results where we've not been on top of our game, but everything changes now.

"It's a new team this year with a different way of looking at things. Nothing is ever the same and it's all down to how we approach these games."

Former United and Barnsley defender Morgan took over at Bramall Lane last month after Danny Wilson left the club.

The 35-year-old has been with the Blades since 2003 and captained the club to promotion to the Premier League in 2006.

He believes promotion would be the culmination of two years of hard work.

"It would be a massive achievement if we got promoted," he added.

"I was lucky enough to come onto the coaching staff two years ago and we've worked hard to achieve promotion.

"When you lose a play-off final you sometimes see teams drift away but we've competed at the top end of the division all season.

"We've lost vital players, we've had things cut back and we have adapted and kept going. That is credit to everyone involved here."

The winners of the two-legged semi-final will face Swindon or Brentford at Wembley on 19 May.
