European round-up: Champions Barcelona bring up 100 points

Eric Abidal made his final Barcelona appearance as the champions became the second Spanish team to reach 100 points in a season.

Abidal, who has recovered from a liver transplant but is being released by Barca this summer, came off the bench in the 4-1 thrashing of Malaga.

David Villa, Cesc Fabregas, Martin Montoya and Andres Iniesta scored the Barca goals.

Deportivo La Coruna were relegated after losing 1-0 to Real Sociedad.

Basque side Sociedad finished in the final Champions League place as a result, leapfrogging Valencia to finish fourth.

Celta Vigo's 1-0 win over Espanyol kept them up at the expense of Real Zaragoza, Mallorca and former champions Deportivo.

The final day of the Spanish season started off with Real Madrid beating Osasuna 4-2 in Jose Mourinho's last game in charge.

Real, unbeaten at home in the league this season, led 2-0 lead but were pulled back to 2-2 before goals from Karim Benzema and Jose Callejon guided them to victory.

They finished the season on 85 points, 15 behind Barcelona - who equalled Real's landmark points tally of 100 last season.

Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova said: "We are happy, we have had a very good season. The truth is that we were eliminated from the semi-finals of the Champions League, but if we have to reach 100 points and score 115 goals to be happy, well then that's fine."

After the game, France international Abidal, who had wanted to stay at Camp Nou, said in a speech to the crowd: "My family and I want to thank you for all the support you have shown me during these years. I will always have you in my heart. Long live Barca! And long live Catalonia!"

Malaga's defeat by Barca marked the end of Manuel Pellegrini's reign as manager. The Chilean, who announced he was going to leave last month, is going to enter talks with Manchester City over the manager's job.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Viktoria Plzen won the Czech title for the second time in their history thanks to a 3-0 victory over Hradec Kralove. They entered the final day two points clear of Sparta Prague, who beat city rivals Dukla by the same scoreline.

Their first domestic title came two years ago.

MONTENEGRO

Sutjeska Niksic sealed the first Montenegrin title in their history thanks to a 2-1 win over Lovcen. They were two points clear of last year's champions, Buducnost, at the start of play - but they lost 1-0 to bottom club Mornar.

It is only the seventh edition of the Montenegro league following their independence from Serbia in 2006.

SWITZERLAND

Basel clinched the Swiss title thanks to a 1-0 victory over St Gallen. They had the league all but won thanks to a three-point lead over Grasshopper Zurich and a superior goal difference by 24. Grasshopper beat Lausanne-Sports 4-1 to finish three points behind Basel.

RUSSIA

CSKA Moscow have won the Soviet or Russian Cup 13 times following their latest success

CSKA Moscow beat Anzhi Makhachkala in the Russian Cup final on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Ahmed Musa gave CSKA an early lead before Lassana Diarra's equaliser for Guus Hiddink's Anzhi.

Ivory Coast international Seydou Doumbia scored the winner in the shoot-out with a cheeky chip over Anzhi keeper Vladimir Gabulov.

The result means Anzhi still have not yet won a trophy following the massive investment in their squad.

ROMANIA

Petrolul Ploiesti beat CFR Cluj 1-0 to win the Romanian Cup thanks to a goal from DR Congo striker Jeremy Bokila. It was the third time Petrolul have won the cup.

Ploiesti's coach is Cosmin Contra, the former AC Milan and Romania international, although he was serving a touchline ban for the game.

"I'm extremely happy because this is my first trophy," he said. "As a player, I was at the Uefa Cup final with Alaves and I played in two Spanish Cup finals with Getafe but I stayed on the losing side in all three cases."
