Kidderminster Harriers: James Dance signs on one-year deal

Kidderminster Harriers have begun the reconstruction of their squad with the signing of James Dance.

The 26-year-old winger, who played under Harriers assistant boss Gary Whild at Redditch United, arrives at Aggborough on a one-year deal following his release by Luton Town.

Dance may help fill the hole if Marvin Johnson, a target for League One side Crewe, opts not to sign a new deal.

Johnson, 22, has been offered an improved deal to stay at Aggborough.

"At the moment we're waiting for Marvin's decision," Whild told the Kidderminster Shuttle. "He's been talking to the chairman and we'll see what happens.

"But we're in a situation where we've got to make decisions and, if Marvin wants to move on, we'll have to look at other players.

"We finished second in the Conference Premier last season and there are plenty of players who will want to join us."

As for Dance, who was released by Luton following a post-Christmas loan spell at Nuneaton Town, Whild added: "He has a fantastic attitude.

"He'll be the first to admit he didn't play as much as he would have liked last season but I'm sure, if he gets his head down and works hard to get back to his best, then he'll be a real favourite with the Kidderminster fans."

After choosing to release the experienced Keith Briggs, Harriers are also looking to strengthen in the engine room following James Vincent's move to Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

"It's a great move for James Vincent," added Whild. "It's always great to see a player move onto bigger things and there's no doubting that James has moved to a much higher level."
