Brighton & Hove Albion defender Adam El-Abd has signed a new two-year contract with the Championship club.

The Egypt international was recently linked with a move to Barnsley but has chosen to stay at the Amex Stadium.

The 28-year-old made his Seagulls debut in 2003 and has since played more than 250 matches for the club.

El-Abd becomes the first player to agree a new deal since manager Gus Poyet left the club in June, and was replaced by Spaniard Oscar Garcia.
