Doncaster Rovers: Goalkeeper Neil Sullivan leaves club

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov has confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Neil Sullivan has left the club.

The 43-year-old, who helped Rovers to the League One title in 2012-13, was the oldest player to play in the Football League last season.

Dickov told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's gone with everyone's best wishes.

"We wanted him to stay on as a keeper and in an ambassadorial role but he has had an offer from elsewhere he felt he couldn't turn down."

He added: "I told him I was looking to bring in a number one goalkeeper and he totally respected that.

"He's been a fantastic servant to the club and a brilliant professional."

Sullivan, who played alongside Dickov for Scotland, joined Doncaster from Leeds in June 2007 and made 181 league appearances, twice helping the club to promotion from League One. He had a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon last season.

Following his exit Rovers have taken former Hearts goalkeeper Marian Kello on trial.

The 30-year-old Slovakia international ended last season on a short-term deal at Wolves.
