Southport sign midfielder Scott Brown after Chester spell

Southport have signed former England Under-19 midfielder Scott Brown following a short-term spell at Conference North winners Chester.

Former Fleetwood and Barrow defender Matty Flynn, 24, has also joined Alan Wright's Sandgrounders.

Brown, 28, helped the Blues to the title, playing 22 league games after leaving Macclesfield last August.

He has made 171 career appearances for eight different clubs, four of which were in the Football League.
