Reading owner Anton Zingarevich targets further signings

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich says the club have not finished with their summer spending yet.

The Royals have so far added Royston Drenthe, Wayne Bridge and Danny Williams to their squad.

And the ambitious Russian says they are working hard to add to the trio.

"It is not the end in terms of signings," Zingarevich told BBC Radio Berkshire. "We have six weeks to go and we need to do a little bit more business."

The club were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season but with new manager Nigel Adkins at the helm and several new players in the squad, Zingarevich feels they are a stronger side.

"Compared to last summer we are in a better place," he added.

"The group is stronger mentally and are understanding what is required of them as a group and individually and I can tell everyone is eager to get better.

"It's good that we've managed to do those three signings early on, they are all good players and I hope we are happy with them when the season ends."

But despite his desire to bring new faces in, Zingarevich is aware that players may need to leave before any can sign.

"We can sit down at the end of the week and see what we need to do," said Zingarevich.

"You have to look at it individually. We have a squad of 25 so we need to see if there are any players who would want to leave or any bids for our players.

"We pretty much have two players for each position so we need to see if any leave. We are happy with the squad but we will see at the end of the week what we need to do to be better."

Signing a new striker is a priority for many supporters but Zingarevich says they are already well stocked in that area.

"We have Pavel Pogrebnyak, Adam Le Fondre, Nick Blackman, Jason Roberts so we need to be careful about not bringing too many bodies in," he said.
