Leigh Griffiths agrees new Wolves contract

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leigh Griffiths has signed a new two-year-contract at Molineux with an option of a further 12 months.

The Scotland international had a second loan spell at Hibernian last season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions before returning to Wolves.

"I am delighted to have signed the new deal," he told the club's website.

"I've been pleased to be able to come back to Wolves, hit the ground running and get on the scoresheet," he added.

The 22-year-old is now pleased to settle with Wolves and praised the fans for their support during pre-season.

"As a player it always helps you settle when you know where you're going to be playing for the foreseeable future.

"From now on I can concentrate on my football and try to help Wolves have a successful season.

"The fans have been great with me in the games I have played in pre-season and hopefully I can now repay that by scoring goals," added Griffiths.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is hoping Griffiths can carry over his impressive goalscoring form from the Scottish Premier League into League One.

"Following on from a very successful loan spell in the SPL with Hibernian, Leigh has come back and had an impressive pre-season," said Jackett.

"I am very pleased that he has signed a new contract and we hope that he can now continue his good goalscoring form heading into the season."
